Summary
Bryan Magee presents a stimulating and accessible history of Western philosophy through the ages, beginning with Plato and Aristotle, and following the story through the centuries, via Descartes, Kant and Nietzsche, to recent figures such as Bertrand Russell and Wittgenstein. Magee interviews internationally renowned contemporary philosophers, such as Martha Nussbaum, Bernard Williams and and John Searle, all of whom offer lively and clear discussions of difficult philosophical concepts, providing not only an introduction to the philosophers of the past, but also a valuable insight into the view and personalities of some of the most influential philosophers of the late 20th Century.
