Summary
Das wirst du nie verstehen: about three women who belong to what is historically referred to as the generation of perpetrators and victims, those who lived during World War II. With their different stories of life, different narrations and memories they all belong to one family, my family.
Kurz davor ist es passiert: The movie takes real stories of victims of female labour trafficking and lets them be told by other people. These people did not experience the stories themselves, but could have played a role in them.
"Zwei dokumentarische Essayfilme von Anja Salomonowitz. DAS WIRST DU NIE VERSTEHEN: Salomonowitz porträtiert drei Frauen aus ihrer Familie, die während der NS-Zeit fast noch Mädchen waren. Alle drei waren an ihrer Erziehung wesentlich beteiligt. Sie standen auf verschiedenen Seiten, stellen die Geschichte heute unterschiedlich dar, gehören jeweils anderen Erinnerungskollektiven an: Hanka Jassy, ihre Großtante, hat Auschwitz überlebt. Gertrude Rogenhofer, ihr Kindermädchen, war Sozialistin und unterstützte ihren Onkel im Widerstand. Margit Kohlhauser, die Großmutter, lebte während des Krieges in Graz. Sie tat dort was die meisten taten: Nichts. KURZ DAVOR IST ES PASSIERT: Eine künstlerische Auseinandersetzung mit dem globalen Phänomen des Frauenhandels. Salomonowitz wählt einen ungewöhnlichen Zugang zum Thema. Auf der Basis werden reale Erzählungen gehandelter Frauen nicht von Schauspielern, sondern von Menschen nacherzählt, die mit den Ereignissen in Beziehung stehen könnten: Ein Zöllner, eine Dorfbewohnerin, ein Bordell-Kellner, eine Diplomatin und ein Taxi-Chauffeur."--Container.
