Biographical / Historical Note
Jean Genet (1910-1986) was a French novelist, poet, playwright, and political essayist. His first novel, Notre-Dame des Fleurs, was edited and published clandestinely in 1943 by Paul Morihien.
Paul Morihien (1917-) was a French editor and publisher, and secretary to avant-garde author and artist Jean Cocteau (1889-1963).

Contains 1 signed contract between Genet and Morihien for the works Querelle de Brest, Heliogabale, Pompes funèbres, and Journal d'un voleur dated 1947 July 26; 5 original ink drawings and 5 photoduplicates of drawings by Jean Cocteau intended as possible cover illustrations for Pompes funèbres; and 3 autograph manuscript letters from Jean Genet to Paul Morihien, pressing Morihien for financial compensation.
