Summary
The author combined his work--a doctor--and hobbies--skiing and mountain climbing--to be a part of an emergency response team based in a hospital near Grenoble, France. He became one of the best-known mountain rescue doctors, serving as well as an adviser to films set in the mountains. This memoir presents an episodic account of rescues in which he participated. Many of these stories are humorous, others are harrowing. The emphasis is on the excitement of flying through the mountains in helicopters to save hapless skiers and climbers trapped in perilous situations.--From Library Journal.
