"The valuable information contained in the following letter, and the very respectable character of the author, lead the writer of the Tour, to subjoin this also, that the volume may be more useful to the public."--p. [92]. First published separately at Philadelphia in 1795, with title: A letter from a gentleman to his friend, in England, descriptive of the different settlements in the province of Upper Canada (Evans 29236).
