Summary
Malaria infection rates are increasing each year. The migration of infected people to the West has caused the disease to spread. Our abuse of the environment and improper use of malaria drugs have enhanced its resistance to treatment. This program, hosted by David Suzuki, examines the problem and what health officials are doing to combat more virulent strains. Efforts by the American military are detailed at the Mai La refugee camp in Thailand-epicenter of the world's deadliest drug-resistant strain. (46 minutes)
