Wa-ashhadu an lā ilāha illā Allāh waḥdahu lā sharīka la-h, shahādatan tuḥaqqiqu li-qāʼilaihā al-tamassuk bi-al-awāmir, wa-al-ijtināb min al-muhayyabāt [al-manhīyāt]. Wa-ashhadu anna Sayyidanā Muḥammad al-mabʻūth ilá sāʼir al-umam, Sayyidī [Sayyid] al-ʻUrb wa-al-ʻAjam, afṣaḥ man naṭaqa bi-al-Ḍād ..."
البداية: "بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم. الحمد لله الذي شرّف الإنسان وزينه بالنطق واللسان، وكرمه على سائر المخلوقات، وفصل [وفضل] من شاء من عباده بالفصاحة والاهتداء إلى يميز اللفاق [تمييز اللغات]. وأشهد أن لا إله إلّا الله وحده لا شريك له، شهادةً تحقق لقائلها التمسك بالأوامر، والاجتناب من المهيبات [المنهيات]. وأشهد أن سيدنا محمد المبعوث إلى سائر الأمم، سيدي [سيد] العرب والعجم، أفصح من نطق بالضاد ..."

The translation of this work into modern Turkish "Eş-şüzûr-üz-zehebiyye vel-kıtaiʼl-Ahmediyye fil-lûgat-it-Türkiyye", was published in Istanbul, in 1949. See also Brockelmann (S II:632): "Maulānā b.M. Ṣāliḥ".
At the head of folio 1a: "al-Kitāb Tarjumān. Sanat 1088. Ṣāliḥ. Hādhā al-kitāb Tarjumān."

On folio 60b: An ownership statement, written within a decorative frame, in black, brown and green, with drawings of five musicians playing different instrument, only the first drawing (a female playing the tambourine is complete and colored): "Haydah al-kitāb al-Tarjmā [al-Tarjumān] ilá al-ʻabd al-faqīr Yūsuf ibn Ḥannā Tūmā al-Mārūnī."

الخاتمة: "تم وكمل بحمد [الله] وعونه وحسن توفيقه. وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد وعلى آله وصحبه وسلم. تمت. تمت."
Translation of the colophon: "It is concluded and completed by the praise of God, His help and His abundant benevolence. May God pray of our Master Muḥammad, his family and his companions and grant them peace. It is concluded. It is concluded."

Summary
"al-Shudhūr al-dhahabīyah wa-al-qiṭaʻ al-Aḥmadīyah fī al-lughah al-Turkīyah", a textbook of miscellaneous vocabularies and glossaries in Arabic with their corresponding equivalents in Ottoman Turkish, written for the benefit of a certain "Aḥmad", the son of a high ranking, unnamed dignitary, by Ibn Muḥammad Ṣāliḥ (Molla Sâlih, Mullā Ṣāliḥ, Mawlānā ibn Muḥammad Ṣāliḥ), who was teaching at the Eşrefiyye medrese (al-Madrasah al-Ashrafīyah) in Cairo, referred to as Shaykh al-Arwām, and was alive in the year 1029 of the Hijrah (1619/1620). Name of copyist and place and date of copying not mentioned. However, according to the date 1088 of the Hijrah (1677/1678) written on folio 1a, the manuscript might have been copied in the early 17th century.
