Summary
Collection of approximately 200 pieces of correspondence, autograph letters and postcards, signed, from British author Jeremy Reed to author and friend Stephen Andrews dating from 1996 through 2006. Correspondence concerns personal and literary matters and includes: comments by Reed on work by Andrews; mentions of literary work-in-progress, publications, events, and possible collaborations; discussion of British literature, music, art, and life in London; and frequent invitations to the gay venue First Out and other London locations. Letters also mention J. G. Ballard, Perry Blake, David Bowie, Fiona Giles, Peter Hammill, Derek Jarman, John Wieners, and many others. Accompanying enclosures include copies of writings and printed ephemera. Writings consist chiefly of copies of drafts of poems by Reed, but there is also a long essay, "London poet," computer printout, and two works by Andrews, an introduction to Reed and a poem dedicated to Reed. Printed ephemera includes announcements of readings by Reed. Accompanied by one letter, typescript, signed, to Andrews from Welsh author Iain Sinclair.
