Summary
Printed ledger completed in manuscript recording hundreds of criminal trials in Phoenix, Arizona, 1885-1886. Entries, signed by court recorder Charles L. Mosher, record the names of defendants and arresting officers, charges, pleas, court proceedings, and sentences, including fines. Most of the cases concern misdemeanors such as drunk and disorderly conduct and sleeping on sidewalks. Other cases concern assault, vagrancy, discharging a firearm, indecent exposure, and escaping from jail. Several trials concern Chinese immigrants charged with operating opium dens. In one case, several Native Americans were charged with remaining in the city after sunset.
