The Library of Congress Copyright Office states in the accompanying letter of November 5, 1945 (to Mrs. Melbert B. Cary, Jr.) that a registration under the name of Fred H. James was entered on October 3, 1894, no. 46100. The registration was entitled Rules to Musical Playing Cards. It is probably that this registration was later transferred to the United States Playing Card Company.
