Biographical / Historical Note
The Wiatt (or Wyatt) family from Liverpool, England included Ann Wiatt (1755-), her sons Francis Wiatt (1797-1853) and William Wiatt (1798-1880), as well as William's sons John Wiatt (1842-1914) and Samuel Wiatt (1844-1899).
Summary
The collection consists of correspondence, exercise books, and notes relating to members of the Wiatt family. Includes 15 letters written by Francis and William Wiatt while attending Malpas School in Chester, addressed to their mother, Ann Wiatt, in Liverpool. Letters discuss their school work and upcoming vacations. Also includes two penmanship exercise books belonging to John Wiatt; five examples of penmanship by Samuel Wiatt; and a handbill advertisement for J. Reston, Classical and Commercial Academy in Huddersfield.
