While the role played by the prints in the definition of a European common culture retains more and more attention, the contribution of Belgian and Dutch engraving in the 'selection of interest for the "arts of black and white "At the beginning of the twentieth century there was always an area neglected by historiography. The work brings together the acts of the international colloquium which were held at the Academia Belgica and at the Koninklijk Nederlands Instituut in Rome in October 2018. They report on the activity of Belgian and Dutch engravers with whom the work makes reference to the Italy or Italian figurative culture - from Félicien Rops to Charles Doudelet, from Jan Toorop to Frank Brangwyn and Maurits Cornelis Escher -, and examining their contribution to intercultural dialogue. The stimulating presence of these stamps in the Italian exhibitions is an immediate effect of immediate repercussions on the formulation of a common taste and style, providing a theoretical basis for several developments of Novecento italien. The methodological plurality of essays offers a variety of lectures that include monographic analysis in the reception of Nordic engraving based on Italian criticism, through its dissemination by collectors and the market, and the analysis of transnational exchanges.

Alors que le rôle joué par les estampes dans la définition d'une culture commune européenne retient de plus en plus l'attention, l'apport de la gravure belge et néerlandaise dans 'éclosion de l'intérêt pour les "arts du noir et blanc" au début du XXe siècle est un domaine toujours négligé par l'historiographie. L'ouvrage réunit les actes du colloque international qui s'est tenu à l'Academia Belgica et au Koninklijk Nederlands Instituut à Rome en octobre 2018. Ils portent sur l'activité des graveurs belges et néerlandais dont l'œuvre fait référence à l'Italie ou à la culture figurative italienne - de Félicien Rops à Charles Doudelet, de Jan Toorop à Frank Brangwyn et Maurits Cornelis Escher -, et examinent leur contribution au dialogue interculturel. La présence stimulante de ces estampes dans les expositions italiennes eut en effet des répercussions immédiates sur la formulation d'un goût et d'un style commun, fournissant une base théorique à plusieurs développements du Novecento italien. La pluralité méthodologique des essais offre une variété de lectures qui vont de l'analyse monographique à la réception de la gravure nordique auprès de la critique italienne, en passant par sa diffusion parmi les collectionneurs et le marché, et l'analyse des échanges transnationaux.
