Richard Cockin (1753-1845) was an English Quaker from Doncaster, Yorkshire. His granddaughter was Quaker poet Ellen Clare Pearson (active 1894).
Ellen Clare Pearson was an English Quaker poet. Her grandfather was Richard Cockin (1753-1845).
Summary
Four manuscript commonplace books, written by Richard Cockin and Ellen Clare Pearson. Three books were written by Cockin and contain: a memorial of Judith Hill; a copy of a letter from a member of the clergy to Patience Brayton of New England; copies of letters from Samuel Fothergill; writings pertaining to Indians of North America; and copies of verses. One book was written by Pearson and contains verses, prayers, and writings relating to Quaker women.
