Biographical / Historical Note
The Thiébaults were a French and British family that consisted of Paul-Charles-François Thiébault (1769-1846), his son Baron Adolphe Thiébault (1797-1875), his wife Harriet Thayer Thiébault (1791-1860), and their daughter Henrietta Malvina Thiébault Inglefield (1823-1902), who married Valentine Otway Inglefield (1824-1900) in 1852.
Summary
Collection of family papers consisting of correspondence, business papers, and writings belonging to members of the Thiébault family. Includes an autograph manuscript of Paul-Charles-François Thiébault's autobiography documenting his time serving as a general in Naples during the War of the Second Coalition; correspondence between Adolphe Thiébault and Harriet Thayer Thiébault; invitations and receipts received by members of the Inglefield family, including Valentine Otway Inglefield; and correspondence and ephemera relating to Henrietta Malvina Thiébault Inglefield's time serving in the Red Cross during the Franco-Prussian War. Also includes letters to Henrietta Malvina Thiébault Inglefield from Guillaume, comte de Garden and Jeanie Senior; to Adolphe Thiébault from his sister Laure Mélanie Thiébault de Norvins; and letters from Adolphe Thiébault's cousin Emma de Jouy. Accompanied by photographs showing the aftermath of the Siege of Paris; photographs of unidentified French nurses; and a lock of hair possibly belonging to Henrietta Malvina Thiébault Inglefield.
