Summary
Print shows Mirabeau at center arriving at the Champs Élisées where he hands a copy of the French Constitution to J.J. Rousseau as Benjamin Franklin reaches to place a wreath on his head; in the left background Fénelon, Montesquieu, Voltaire, and Mably come to greet him, and in the right background Demosthenes and Cicero are talking together, on the far right, Charon uses an oar to push his boat off from shore. Without liberty cap on spear point and with letters on banner afixed to spear shaft: La France libre.
