Summary
The Berlin Philharmonic story is more than just a portrait about the history of this world-famous orchestra. It also tells the story of the city of Berlin in which the orchestra was founded in 1882. Today it is one of the most exciting cities in the world. Six musicians from the Berlin Philharmonic tell us the story of their orchestra and of the city they live in. We follow them through various situations in their daily lives and are also led to places of historical interest in Berlin; such as Checkpoint Charlie, the wall memorial or the Schönberger Rathaus. From these places in the present we start our journey into the past or into the future. While material taken from the archives breathes life into days gone by, computer animations give us a taste of Berlin in the future. In addition, outstanding contemporary artists working regularly with the Berlin Philharmonic add their points of view to those of the musicians.
