Written in a very faint ink, illegible in many places; two signatures. Gathered as a single quire. Written from both ends, and much written sideways. Written in black ink just above the other writing on f.1 is "? if one of Rev Joseph Hunter's MSS / yes"; spine lettered "HUN / TER / MSS" in the same black ink. Henry Fairfax, 2nd son of the 4th Baron Fairfax, was in the employment of Lady Barwick, apparently the mother-in-law of the 4th Baron. Kept with the manuscript, in a separate envelope, is a high-contrast Leeds University photographic record (taken before book-plating) of the front and back covers and of all the inscribed pages (ff.1-10, 12-15, 22-end), with duplicate smaller prints for the openings that include ff.12r, 22r, 30r, and 34r
