Biographical / Historical Note
Wilbur Cortez Abbott (1869-1947), historian and educator, began working at Yale University in 1908. In 1917, he published The Expansion of Europe: A History of the Foundations of the Modern World (New York : H. Holt and Company, 1918).
Summary
Circa 15 manuscript and typescript letters collected by Wilbur Cortez Abbott and pertaining to World War I, 1914-1918. Letters are written primarily by students or soldiers in Syria, France, England, and unidentified locations. Some letters are copies. Included are seven photographs of “German royalty taken by a member of the U.S. Secret Service with a small camera [???] a watch.”
