Biographical / Historical Note
Hazel W. Gahran (1917-2003) and Robert Gahran lived in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii. Robert Gahran was director of the Kauai Museum from 1970-1981.
Summary
Autograph manuscript letter, signed, from Hazel Gahran and typescript letter, signed, from Robert Gahran, to Emy and Frederick W. Davis. The letters discuss the death of Kathryn Hulme; visiting Hulme's partner, Marie-Louise Habets, and discussing how she is faring; being contacted for information by obituary writers for local newspapers; and the legal status of Hulme's estate. The letters also discuss their recollections of first meeting Hulme and Habets, and various other personal matters relating to the Gahrans' life in Kauai, Hawaii. Included with Robert Gahran's letter is a photocopy of Hulme's obituary from the August 27, 1981 edition of the Honolulu Star Bulletin.
