Summary
In 1806, Paris and Berlin's shared history took a dramatic turn when Napoleon's troops came and occupied the Prussian capital. Berlin also found its vocation in the industrial revolution: the city specialized in railway construction as well as the iron and steel industries, thus launching an unstoppable economic and demographic ascent. It was at this time that Paris undertook a massive metamorphosis with Haussmann's transformation of the city under Napoleon III.
