Layout: top of scroll, containing dedicatory letters and Catherine de Médicis' coat of arms, in two columns. Body of scroll is a family tree composed of linked roundels. Letter to the reader at the bottom in one column.
Script: combination of roman, bâtarde, and chancery italic.
Decoration: Large coat of arms of Catherine de Médicis, coats of arms and family tree painted in gouache, colour, and applied gold. Rubrication.
Title devised by cataloger from incipit to prologue.

Summary
Manuscript roll on parchment, composed of 6 sheets glued together, of a genealogical chronicle of the kings of France starting with Hugh Capet and ending with Charles IX. Includes prefatory and dedicatory letters "a la royne mere du roy," Catherine de Médicis, and "aux princes de France." The scroll finishes with a letter from Lawrence Holinshed "au lecteur" in which he describes his hopes for future relations between France and England and his own past imprisonment in France.
