Summary
"The location is irresistible. Our eyes percieve the sheep and Mont Blanc in the background and they dissolve in the wake of the piano's stunts. The bells of the flock and the hum of the helicopter flow into the music. Soon, the Cuban pianist's ardour and the energy of the cajón played by his brother, Ruy Adrián López-Nussa, unleash the spirit of the mountain. New Day is the latest opus of Harold Lopez Nussa, who has played six of the ten compositions during live concerts before recording them in Havana. The tracks include ""Cimarron"" and ""Eso fue Hace 20,"" where a melancholic touch is added by the inspired trumpet of Mayquel Gonzalez. ""Mi son Cerra'o,"" an energized performance with flawless rhythms recorded in 2018, is a fervent jam session that is no way inferior to the Cuban descargas of the 1950s. Harold López-Nussa, who was awarded with the First Prize at the ""Jazz Solo Piano Competition"" at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2005, follows the steps of the greatest Cuban pianists with his wild and moving talent. His generosity challenges the snowfields all around. Marion Paoli".
