"Emerging in the mid-90s with the explosion of drum and bass, electro-jazz has since developed a dense repertoire where talents as different as Erik Truffaz, Nils Petter Molvær, and Carl's Innerzone Orchestra the Brainfeeder Connection meet. A worthy heir to this movement, nOx.3 offers a particularly intense concert on the Metz Arsenal stage. Composed of Rémi and Nicolas Fox on saxophone and drums as well as Matthieu Nauleau on piano, the French trio excels in minimalist arrangements. Led by Swedish singer Linda Oláh, nOx.3 sums up this aesthetic with "Circles," a long, heady melody coupled with parsimonious electronic effects; thanks to "Amon," whose live interpretation recalls Björk's most radical recordings; and also with ""Daphnis Et Chloé: Suite n ° 2-Lever Du Jour,"" a theme by Maurice Ravel which confirms the younger generation's obvious taste for the French masters of the first part of the twentieth century. Illustrated by impressive images (we think of these fascinating constructions) and by skilfully framed shots, this performance-like set lends itself to both ears and eyes.
