Summary
"Behind this name which evokes the fights of exotic battered guerrillas straight out of a comic book or a B-grade western, in reality hides the group that accompanied Rachid Taha during the last period of his career before his death in 2018. A kind of tribute-band which as part of this show recorded during the edition of Jazz à Vienne 2021 called for reinforcements, and not just anybody: Rodolphe Burger (ex Kat Onoma), the Beninese singer Julien Jacob, a brother-in-arms of the founder of Carte de Séjour, Sofiane Saïdi, (THE voice of raï 2.0) or this other big name of the afro saxophone, the Cameroonian Yebga Likoba (Sixun, Ray Lema, Gil Scott-Heron ...). The party would not be complete without the myriad of guests for whom the music of our late Franco / Algerian "Joe Strummer" was a common thread for their own careers. A luminous scenography, titles (and hits of course) which are strung together and which the musicians seize with the freedom that LIVE offers. Soaring rock, afrobeat rhythms that cross paths with a supercharged oud. High voltage Oriental vibrations. Plural voices which return to the center of the process a Pan-Africanism assumed and claimed for a long time by this singer who is no longer with us. A Mexican Army worthy of the idea we have of it: colts in the shape of guitars, neither chiefs nor sub-chiefs, banners with demanding messages and medals for peace. This eternal peace that we wish for our late Rachid Taha, wherever he is at this moment. Julien D."
