Lithograph depicting shipwrecked white sailors being cared for by Africans. Underneath image is text in French urging equal rights for black French subjects on the grounds of their patriotism: 'Les Noirs sont d'un caract re doux et humain, au milieu des horreurs de la guerre, ils sont toujours rest s fidels la France; j'apporte ici leur serment de vivre et de mourir fran ais.
