Summary
The papers of the De Bordes family and some related persons pertain to landholdings and the operation of sugar and coffee plantations principally in Haiti, to slave insurrections and the confiscation and destruction of property by the insurrectionists, and to some aspects of the life of refugees in New Orleans.</p><p>These papers consist mostly of letters to a Madame la Valette in Santiago de Cuba.
