Includes letters from Charles Steuart's nephew William Steuart (ff. 101, 141, 156, 162, 170, 185, 189, 193, 195, 197, 208, 210, 215, 223, 226, 228), written during his time serving in India, 1788-92. William Steuart's letters deal with his position in the army, his finances, fathering a child with an Indian woman, the Third Mysore War (1790-92) and his employment with the Nizam's cavalry. For permission reasons folios 3-70 have not been included.
