This series of letters (NLS MSS. 8252-54) includes drafts and copies, of Major-General James Stuart to his brother, Andrew Stuart. The majority of these letters were written while James Stuart was in India, and they provide a regular report, in places a day-to-day report, of political and military events in Madras.
