Scott fought with Washington during the Revolution and was transferred to the Southern Department 1779. He was captured at Charleston when the army surrendered on 12 May 1780. He was not pardoned until February 1782 and moved to Kentucky in 1787 where he took part in several expeditions against the Indians on the frontier. Was elected Governor of Kentucky in 1808 and served until 1812.
