LWL 49 3690: Vol. [1] has title-page in Horace Walpole's hand: Collection of pieces relating to Rowley and Chatterton; containing, the supposed poems of Rowley, the acknowledged works of Chatterton; and Mr. Walpole's letter to the editor of the latter; with notes to it by Mr. Walpole himself.

Provenance
Sold at Strawberry Hill Sale, day vii, lot 49, to Strong, £4.10.0 [London, 1040*-1042*]; Edwards, 1 November 1848 (Pigott Sale), lot 1609. The volume in 4to, the Poems edited by Milles, is now in the British Museum. The other pieces were gathered into four volumes about 1860: one of these containing three pieces, was left in original calf as described above, while the other 14 pieces were bound in three volumes for A.A. Smets. These four volumes were sold by Leavitt, 25 May 1868 (Smets Sale), lot 446; then owned by George T. Strong of New York; acquired by the Clinton Hall association of New York for the New York Mercantile Library; sold by the library in 1934 to W.S. Lewis.
