Summary
Gavino Ledda (Marconi) recounts his domination by his oppressive father (Antonutti) when growing up. He is forced to live in solitude as an illiterate Sardinian shepherd, separated from family, schools, and his town. Finally he rebels against his father and his own illiteracy.
