Biographical / Historical Note
Nancy Jane married Henry Bradley in 1847 and accompanied him to California in 1852.
Henry Bradley was born 1823 in Sidney, New York, moved to Elkhorn, Wisconsin in 1837, lived in California in 1852-1855 and 1859-1860, and settled in Elkhorn in 1860.
Summary
The Bradleys kept a journal of their 1852 trip west by way of Kanesville, the Platte, Fort Laramie, the Sweetwater, South Pass, Fort Bridger, Echo Creek, Salt Lake City, the Bear River Ferry, Blue and Pilot Springs, Goose Creek, and Thousand Springs Valley. It describes the country, road conditions, availability of water, camp sites, flowers, wild life, and mentions Mormons met on the trail.
