BAC: DA130 .C47 1497+ Copy 1: Imperfect: lacks leaves l1, l6, o3, o4, and u6. Leaves of 1 & 6 and 3 & 4 of signature e are transposed. Bound in 18th-century calf. "At front are the bookplates of the Earl of Jersey (Victor Albert George Child Villiers) and the Virtue and Cahill Library from which the book was ... sold (Christie's, 5 July 1967) by order of the Bishop and Cathedral Chapter of Portsmouth. Its earlier appearance in the sale rooms was at the sale of the Earl of Jersey's Osterley Park Library at Sotheby, Wilkinson and Hodge (6 May 1885). It appears in the 1771 Catalogue of the Osterley Park library under the title one the binding 'Fructus temporum'. The name of John Graveley occurs frequently in both the Cronycles and the Descrypcyon. On Aa2r is an ownership inscription by Graveley and, on the verso of the final leaf of the Descrypcyon is: 'ptinet John Graveley a⁰. 1540.' A later owner's name, 'Carolus Jones 1620,' occurs twice."--Grolier Club.

Colophon, part 1 (I4r): Here endyth this present cronycle of Englonde wyth the frute of tymes: compiled in a booke, & also enprynted by one somtyme scole mayster of saynt Albons. on whoos soule god haue mercy, And newely in the yer[e] of our lord god. M. CCCC.lxxxxvij. enprynted at Westmestre by Wynkyn de Worde.
Second part begins (²A1r): The descrypcyon of Englonde. Here foloweth a lytell treatyse the whiche treateth of the descrypcyon of this londe whiche of olde tyme was named Albyon And after Brytayne And now is called Englonde and speketh of the nobleness and worthynesse of the same.
Colophon, part 2: Here endeth the descrypcyon of Brytayne, the whiche conteyneth Englonde Wales and Scotlonde ... whyche I haue taken out of Polycronycon. And by cause it is necessarye to all Englysshmen to knowe the propretees co[m]modytees and meruayles of them, therfor I william Caxton haue them sette fyrste in enprynte accordyng to the translac[i]on of Treuisa ... Fynysshed and enprynted at Westmestre by me Wynkyn de worde, the yere of our lorde a. M. CCCC. and foure score and .xviij.
