The Intelligence Center, Pacific Ocean Area (ICPOA) was established in June 1942 to provide geographic, technical, and other forms of basic intelligence that were essential for the war against Japan. ICPOA was primarily staffed by naval personnel. During September 1943, ICPOA was superseded by the Joint Intelligence Center, Pacific Ocean Area (JICPOA), which was a joint Army-Navy-Marine Corps organization. Both centers operated under the Commander in Chief Pacific and Pacific Ocean Areas (CINCPAC-CINCPOA).

The records consist of 466 bulletins reflecting Allied knowledge of Japanese forces, operations, weapons, and technology.
