Biographical / Historical Note
W. C. Blair graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary and went to the Republic of Texas in 1840 as a missionary and representative of the Board of Foreign Missions of the Presbyterian Church. Walter M. Lowrie was also a Presbyterian missionary, minister, and educator.
Summary
Blair, writing during the period of the Texas Republic, records movements of "roving" Indians and Mexican troops, his flight from General Vazquez's troops in 1842, and an Indian captivity of a family from Philadelphia in 1843, among other details of events in the region and the life and customs of the inhabitants there.
