Incipit: "Bismillāh al-Raḥmān al-Raḥīm ... al-Ḥamdu lillāh ḥamdan muwāfiyan li-niʻamih, mukāfiyan li-mazīdih ..."

البداية: "بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ... الحمد لله حمدًا موافيًا لنعمه، مكافيًا لمزيده ..."

Colophon: "Tamma ... bi-tārīkh yawm al-Aḥad al-mubārak, awāʼil shahr Ṣafar al-khayr, sanat khams wa-khamsīn wa-miʼah wa-alf, ʻalá yad ... [erasure] ibn ʻAbd Allāh al-Ḥāfiẓ ibn [erasure] ..."

الخاتمة: "تمّ ... بتاريخ يوم الأحد المبارك، أوائل شهر صفر الخير، سنة خمس وخمسين ومائة وألف، على يد ... [محو] بن عبد الله الحافظ بن [محو] ..."

Translation of the colophon: "It is completed ... on blessed Sunday, the beginning of the month of Ṣafar al-khayr, of the year 1155 [of the Hijrah = 8 April 1742], by the hand of ... [erasure] ibn ʻAbd Allāh al-Ḥāfiẓ ibn [erasure] ..."

Commentary on the Qurʼān; volume I, covering Sūrahs II-XVII, by al-Maḥallī, incomplete, stops with Sūrah IV, 39; volume II, covering Sūrah XVIII to end, by al-Suyūṭī, followed by Sūrah 1 by al-Maḥallī.
