The colophon date, A.H. 1003 (A.D. 1594 or 1595) "at Mecca," has been written in by a later hand and is certainly not genuine.

Colophon: "Tammat ... fī al-tārīkh <hafdahum> sabʻ ʻashar min shahr Rabīʻ al-Awwal, fī yawm al-Arbaʻ, baʻda ṣalāt al-fajr 'fī Makkah sanat 1003' [added above the line, upside down]."
الخاتمة: "تمت ... في التاريخ <هفدهم> سبع عشر من شهر ربيع الأول، في يوم الأربع، بعد صلوة الفجر 'في مكة سنة 1003' [هذه الجملة مزيدة فوق السطر، رأسًا على عقب]."
Translation of the colophon: "Completed ... on 17 Rabīʻ al-Awwal, on Wednesday, after the dawn's prayer, 'at Mecca, in the year 1003' [added above the line, upside down] [= 30 November, 1594]."
