Summary
Collection of verses which includes a long anti-English poem about a young Englishman in the slave trade whose ship is wrecked on the coast of Africa, where he is rescued by a black woman. She falls in love with him, but he eventually takes her to America and sells her, even though she is pregnant by him. Other verses are addressed to Mme de la Vallière, the Duchesse d'Orléans, and other personages. There are also madrigals, charades, and various verbal puzzles.
