Summary
Autograph manuscript account book kept by Charles Tobey, a merchant in Hawaii, listing accounts for food, ship stores, and other merchandise. Most accounts are listed under names of ships, captains, or other ship officers; also named are businesses and individuals, some located in China and Hong Kong. An index of names is included, and five sheets of additional accounts and notes are laid in. Also written in the volume are certifications of balances due to Tobey's estate, signed by Elisha Hunt Allen, United States Consul for the Hawaiian Islands, Honolulu, Aug 6, 1850.
