Summary
Holograph manuscript report to Rev. Bruce Kinney containing the results of an information-gathering trip by missionaries Robert Hamilton and G. L. Phelps to Sauk and Fox settlements near Stroud, Oklahoma. Hamilton describes meeting with Indian agents, white settlers, and Indians, and comments on the Indian population and their living conditions. He also discusses the "religious cults" of the Indians, and the drumming, dancing, and other ceremonial activities he and Phelps witnessed. He concludes the report with his suggestions for the most economical means to conduct mission work among the Sauk and Fox. In the report Hamilton refers to the "Society," presumably the American Baptist Home Mission Society, for which Kinney served as a general superintendent in 1917.
