Summary
Bound volume containing a collection of twenty-five oil paintings by unidentified artist(s) executed on heavy paper, and matted so that the back of each painting is visible. There is a hand-lettered title page, index, and a leaf of description pertaining to the paintings. Each painting is preceded by a leaf listing the common name of the bird, its Latin name, and a short account of its habitat. Sheets on which these paintings were executed come from various sources: the verso of several show they were taken from account ledgers, one dated "1762," and another dated "Dec. 5, 1780." Three of the sheets have ornithological descriptions, though not for the bird depicted on the recto, and on the verso of the painting of the Hobby is a pencil sketch of an eagle.
