Summary
Collection contains letters and other documents by or related to William Cobbett. Included are copies of letters from Cobbett, made by his secretary Benjamin Tilly, to William Budd, E. C. Faithfull, Mr. Gutsell and Job Swain, as well as originals to Thomas Pelham, Earl of Chichester, and John Wright. Also included is a copy of one letter from John M. Cobbett, William Cobbett's son, to Mr. Gutsell. Other documents include agreements between William Cobbett, John M. Cobbett, James Paul Cobbett (William Cobbett's son), and Jesse Oldfield regarding the copyrights of William Cobbett's writings, and two notebooks with holograph notes by William Cobbett: One account book entitled "State of His Majesty's 54th (for West Norfolk) Regiment of Foot," and one notebook of mathmatical problems.
