David Williams was a government architect assigned to the position of Chief Engineer for the Federal Settlement Project (the Matanuska Colony Project) in Palmer, Alaska, in 1936. He was in charge of building construction and inspection for the colony. The collection consists of three reels of microfilm containing correspondence between David Williams and his family and friends; government reports on the colony's progress and problems; articles concerning the colony from various national magazines; newspaper clippings concerning the colony; and photographs of colonists, the colony, and colony buildings.
