Biographical / Historical Note
Clair Hunt was a surveyor; in 1906 was Special Allotting Agent in charge of the allotment of the Spokane Indian Reservation, and in 1911 apparently worked as alloting agent at the Colville Reservation.
Summary
Photograph albums containing portraits of Nespelim, Nez Percé, Paloos, Sinikiuse-Columbia, Spokane, and Yakama Indians. Men, women and children are posed outside or in front of a background of tents or blankets; many women hold beaded handbags and children in decorative cradleboards. Includes pictures of men playing cards, a surveyors camp on the Colville Reservation and the survey crew, and settlers on the Spokane Indian Reservation.
