Albert Henry Krehbiel, painter, muralist, teacher. American post-impressionist. B. 1873, Denmark, Iowa. 1896: enrolls Art Institute of Chicago. 1902: Instructor, Art Institute. 1903: Travels to Europe; studies in Paris under Jean-Paul Laurens. 1906: Tours Spain, studying Velasquez in particular. Marries Dulah Marie Evans. Joins faculty of Art Institute, teaching composition. Helps pioneer the Chicago Art Summer School of Painting in Saugatuck, Michigan. 1907: Wins and completes commission for mural and decorative paintings of the Supreme and Appellate court rooms, state capitol of Springfield, Illinois. 1945: Dies, Evanston, Illinois, day of retirement from a 39 year teaching career at the Art Institute.
