This work originally appeared in 2 vols., London, 1793. The 2d edition, London, 1801, was enlarged by the addition of v. 3, which was merely another issue of the author's "An historical survey of the island of Santo Domingo", London, 1801 (originally published 1797) In the 5th edition, the order of articles in v. 1-3 is somewhat altered from that of the 2d.
The continuation (v. 4-5) appears first in this edition.
