Summary
The collection consists of two research memoranda prepared in 1940 under the auspices of the Carnegie-Mydral study of "The Negro in America," for use in Gunnar Myrdal's "An American Dilemma: The Negro Problem and Modern Democracy" (1943). The first item is "Source Material for Patterns of Negro Segregation" in Houston, Texas by Charles S. Johnson and the second is "A History of Racial Ideologies in the United States with references to the Negro" by Guion G. Johnson. The material is from the Problem of the American Negro papers in the Schomberg Collection.
