Biographical / Historical Note
Hubert Frank Mathews was born in 1885. He studied anthropology and worked in Nigeria as a political officer in the north. Following further study in anthropology at Oxford, he became an anthropological officer for the Southern Provinces, Nigeria. Mathews died in 1964.
