Summary
Manuscript on paper in a single hand containing two Roman Catholic sermons in English and a portion of a theological text in Latin. The sermons, on Colossians III, 1-2 and Ephesians IV, 30, concern the Christian hope of the Resurrection and the compassion of the Holy Ghost in the face of sin. Both sermons are headed by their texts, given in both Vulgate and English versions, and both cite fathers of the church and Roman Catholic theologians. The second sermon is headed "for whitsunday."
The Latin treatise, written from the back of the volume in the same hand, is headed "Tractatus de virtutibus theologicis" but actually consists of a formal analysis of one theological virtue, Hope.
