Manuscript, in a single hand, of ten dialogues, conducted between Mentoria and her pupils Lady Mary and Lady Louisa, on various educational and moral subjects. The topics include On industry, truth and sincerity; On orthography; On politeness, civility and gratitude; On elocution and geography; On history with the life of Romulus and Remus; and On the sciences. Several of the dialogues conclude with original verse, and the volume includes one page of diagrams of geometric figures.
The manuscript begins with a preface which explains the author's motives in compiling this volume. She explains that the dialogues were originally composed for her pupils, and that she was compelled to compile them at the urging of her friends and for the purpose of instruction.
